Alright, I know that this is old, but I really want to post on Snow Valley just so when I'm old some day far in the future I can look back and kill myself laughing. :-)
So...Monday morning, I woke up at 5:30, got dressed and yeah all that stuff. We took Kate and Micael, Matt, and Pete so there were seven of us in the mini van, and Mrs. Allin followed me up. I was driving, and the whole way, my mom and I were 'fighting' over the songs. :-) I'd put in a cd, skip to a song I liked, and as soon as it would get loud or screamo or stuff like that, she'd turn it off. Twas fun. Meanwhile, the others amused themselves with playing X and O's on the fogged up windows, and drawing weird things.
I got kind of bored driving, seeing as I couldn't even listen to an entire song I liked, so I began passing people when I really didn't need to. I was driving in the far left hand lane, and there was a car a few meters ahead of me in the middle lane. So, I switched over all the way to the right, passed him, and then moved back over to the far left hand lane again. Mrs. Allin probably thought I was on crack or something, but hey, had to stay awake somehow. ;-)
We got to Snow Valley and pretty much I slept for the first hour we were there. We were early so it's not like we could start boarding or anything anyways. After we got our blue stripes, we did two runs, and then Pete and I went to get our skis. Okay, the line up was insane. We budded into the boot room, you know, just said excuse me politely until we made our way through. :-) It was funny, we had no idea how the sizes worked so we just started randomly throwing ones on that looked like they would fit. Then my sister came in and was like 'the first number indicates the size...' so yeah, we got our boots. Talk about easy to get on, way less complicated than snowboard boots, but not near as comfy. :-P So, then we get into the line for the ski rentals. The line up was rediculously long!!!! We waited a full hour almost, just getting our rentals. Okay, we're standing in line and all of a sudden Peter was like, "EW! Gross, imagine how many hundreds of people's feet have been in here before ours?" Yeah, talk about a disgusting thought. But then I confidently replied and said they probably wash them out after every day. (They do, right???)
Yeah. So, we take our stuff outside, and the laughter begins. Just watching Peter put them on made me keel over with laughter. He looked absolutely hilarious!!! Not to mention myself. So we started pushing ourselves towards the lift. What a weird feeling, it probably took 5 minutes just to get from the doors to the ski lift. And then we got to the top. There were a bunch of people waiting to go down, and since we were noobs, we wanted to be sure no one would be in our way. The chance came, and I slithered down to the top of Family. Then Peter fell and lost his ski...great. Tried putting it on, unsuccessfully. So he walked back with it to the top where it was flat, and finally got it on again. My sister and Melissa came along then...and made us look like even bigger fools. We made it down a little further, and then EVERYONE came. Talk about embarrassing. Anyways, to sum it up, Pete had no clue what he was doing, I didn't either, really, but I managed to make it down only falling once. He, on the other hand, lost a ski twice. Hehe. It was pretty much the funniest thing ever, I laugh just thinking about it now. And each time he or I fell, we'd just stand there forever, as if somehow we would magically just appear at the bottom of the hill. Once we made it down to the bottom, a good half hour later, we were like 'the heck with this' and pretty much as fast as we could, got rid of those cursed things and strapped on our boards. It felt so good to be riding a board again...I can't even tell you...
Unfortunately, we were all tired, and extremely lazy that day. I mean, how many times didn't we just plop our butts down on the hill and sit there for what, 10 minutes at a time? Suntanning...throwing snow...laughing. Yeah, good times.
Another thing that comes to mind is the t-shirt run, and how Peter collided with the Chinese skier dude who had not a clue what he was doing. We killed ourselves laughing man, I mean, I laughed non-stop pretty much the whole ride to the top of the hill after that run. Pretty much the funniest thing ever!
Yeah, and then the wait at the hospital at the end of the day. Kate had cracked her chin and my mom got a ride to the hospital, but I had to pick them up. After driving down Snow Valley road for a while, we came to a subdivision and I was like 'uhhh...' I wasn't thinking and forgot to make a left to get to the 400, but we found it no problem after that. We got to the hospital and my mom was anxiously waiting. You know how at emergancy entrances there's like a circle drive? Well, I drove around it twice while she was standing there b/c earlier she told me 'yeah just drive around for a while don't park there'. Okay, maybe it's not funny when you read it, but at the time we were killing ourselves.
We waited for like an hour and a half at the hospital. We had gone to Timmy's to get my mom a coffee...and Peter and I went in to give it to her. It was great, he was carrying two coffees and then there was me, walking around in my snowpants. We walked into the waiting room and the place was like packed, and they were all looking at us kinda funny...I wonder why. So we turned around, went down another hall, and saw a sign for the x-ray room. I turned into a room 'cause I saw my mom and Kate, but a few seconds later, I realized that Peter wasn't there. I poked my head out the door and he's standing at the end of the hall with that 'what the heck!' expression on his face. It was priceless...
Anyways, it was an awesome last day at snow valley, even if we were dead tired, there was a lot of reason to laugh!!! Man, I can't believe the boarding season is almost over. This past one was probably the best season for me yet, it was amazing! I couldn't even count how many times I've been out, but I guess all good things do come to an end. The saddest thing...it will probably be my last year ever buying a season's pass at Kirby, seeing as we'll be moved next year. :-( What a depressing thought. But that's way in the future, guess I just gotta enjoy it while I still can...and sorry that this thing is so long. Oh, that last note I posted...I finally remembered what that number was for!!! It was a math page number. :-) It was horrible though, not being able to remember. Gah. Anyways, I'm going now!
